Richard and Carmi shared about the various ministries that are part of their life. In fact, just about all of their life.
At the current time neither receives any salary. So any funds donated to the ministries go towards the actual ministry.

Seattle Open Door Church
Richard is the Interim Senior Pastor of the English congregation and the Administrative Pastor of the non-English congregations (Korean, Nepalese, Samoan, Hispanic). Seattle Open Door Church is located at 625 SW 149th St. Burie, WA 98166.

Richard is also the overseer of Community of Hope-the addiction recovery church service.

Richard is the Radio Host of There is Hope Radio. There is Hope Radio is a live talk show that addresses the subject of addiction and recovery. Richard shares insights on recovery he has learned from working with those with addictions for over 19 years. On the show is also individuals with powerful testimonies of being set free from addictions, counselors, and organizations that help individuals with addictions.All shows are podcasted.

Fairhaven House
Fairhaven House is a faith based, low income, clean & sober housing and discipleship program. Fairhaven House has two houses in Seatac, WA, one house in Burien, WA, and one house in White Center/Seattle, WA.

We house 34 men total. In the near future we hope to obtain a house for women.Click here for more details.

Christian Addiction Intervention
Richard and Carmi also do Addiction Interventions based upon Christian principles, even though their clients may not be Christian. They believe an intervention does not stop by getting someone into treatment. They believe intervention also includes follow up after treatment. Click Here for more details.

Radio Host Richard Dover interviewed Detectives Taylor and Banks who are detectives with Seatac Police Dept. This is one of the most eye opening interviews that have taken place on There is Hope Radio. These detectives bring a totally different perpsective in regards to the crime of prostitution.

Many individuals see prostitution as a victimless crime. Others see prostitutes as criminals. Detective Taylor and Banks and The Genesis Project have a totally different perspective. They believe that instead of seeing prostitutes as criminals that they should be seen as women who are being taken advantage of and abused. Almost all women involved in prostitution were sexually molested at an early age and those who are working for pimps are certainly being taken advantage of and abused in horrible ways. More and more teens are becoming prostitutes because of sex trafficking. In fact Seattle is #3 in sex trafficking in the U.S.

The purpose of The Genesis Project is to help women to get out of prostitution. They offer a safe place for prostitutes to go to for assistance. So, instead of them being arrested for prostitution they are provided a means to get out of prostitution. They are also encouraged to provide evidence to police in regards to their pimps so that the pimps can be convicted and sentenced to prison-thus helping prevent other women being abused by pimps.

Rape for Profit is a documentary filmed in Seattle that reveals what is taking place in sex trafficking in the Seattle area. During the movie there is footage of undercover operations and interviews with women who have been involved with prostitution. There is also information on The Genesis Project. This is a must see movie. It will get you angry, make you sad, but more importantly help bring a totally different perpsective in regards to prostitution. The true criminals are the 'johns' (men who pay for sex acts) and pimps (those who control the prostitutes).

I strongly encourage you to watch Rape for Profit. It will make you mad, it will make you cry, it will challenge you to see prostitution totally different.

What About Halloween?

As a Christian what do you think about Halloween? Is it just an innocent holiday? Is it OK for Christians to celebrate Halloween? Is there anything evil about Halloween?

I am sure Christians have different viewpoints about Halloween. The question I have for Christians is how did you come up with your perspective on Halloween? Was it based upon how you were raised? Was it based upon feelings and emotions? Or was it based upon biblical principles. Does Halloween promote a positive, uplifting environment or an environment that encourages evil? Does the secular concept of Halloween glorify God?

Unless a person is sheltered from society, it is obvious that much of Halloween is focused on violence, death, horror, gore, fear, occult.
If a person says these themes are just for fun, they certainly have bought into a lie. How can a Christian say that the promoting of evil is fun?

I would hope those Christians that believe it is okay to go trick or treating would never dress their children up as demons, evil characters, in a promiscuous manner or in some way that glorifies evil. I would also hope they would not take them to homes that glorify horror. Instead, if possible, why would a Christian parent not rather take their child to a harvest party at their church?

Unity

Unity in the Body of Christ

God wants unity among Christians so there will be peace
Ephesians 4:1-3
1 Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called,
2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love,
3 being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
When we walk in unity which requires humility, gentleness, patience, tolerance, and love, there will be a bond of peace.
God wants unity so the lost will come to know Christ
John 17:22-23
22 "The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one;
23 I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.
When we walk in unity as Christians the world will see, and ultimately experience God's love.

The love of God keeps unity
Colossians 3:12-17
12 So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;
13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.
14 Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.
15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.
If we have love we will have compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, bearing one another, forgiving each other. This will lead to unity and peace.

Communication required for unity
Communicate, communicate, communicate. When there is good communication, misunderstandings and offenses can be avoided.

Steps to Greatness and Prosperity
1. Listen to God's voice-do not grieve and quench the Holy Spirit.

1 Thessalonians 5:19
Do not quench the Spirit;

Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

2. Leave where you have been in the past.
